It's hard to believe that at one point in time in history, this music and dancing was seen to be highly inappropriate. Now in comparison to today's music and dancing styles, it is incredibly tame.

The 1950's rock and roll style of music heavily relied on the African American Blues, Roots, Jazz and Gospel Music as well as drawing from Country and Western and Western Swing.
One of the greatest all time rockers of this era was..... Elvis Presley. Elvis' hip swinging and knocking knees made all the teenage girls swoon and their parents worry!

The 1950's dance style saw couple dancing heavily relying on movements including bee bopping, the swing, jitterbugging and jiving. Teenagers in the USA of this time when rock and roll was at it's peak, were all glued to tv shows such as Bandstand to see the latest live rock and roll bands, what they were wearing and what the teenagers in the audience were all dancing to!
